Types of production:
We produced a short film which is a unique form off media giving the film makers a unique opportunity to focus heavily on every second due to the length off their content these challenges film makers to perform an interesting narrative within only a fleeting period. For the Depict film competition. A competition for 90-second (about 1 and a half minutes) short films. Granting up to £2500 prize money, invaluable industry exposure, screening at BAFTA Qualifying Encounters Short Film & Animation Festival and a host of other exclusive prizes. (“Depict”) We distributed it through YouTube, a common video sharing social media platform. However, the best way to bring people to our content is through word of mouth and our individual influences on other social media like Discord, Meta, and Twitter.
Sources of Finances:
Multiple sources of financing exist for films especially from the British Film Institute which grants national lottery funding for Film makers in the preliminary stages off their career. This can be extremely useful for getting a project started and the ability to begin production.
Funding for television can be gained through multiple ways from spec script which grants production companies an insight into your creation, however this is not always effective as it is difficult to get them sold with only 25 spec scripts sold last year. A more reasonable way to get television funded is through grants like Independent Lens television documentary grant that grants $350,000 to complete production for a standalone broadcast length documentary to air on public television.
Other media like music can be funded by other campaigns like Youth Music and their Youth Music Nextgen Fund granting £2,500 to make a musical project a reality.
Requirements:
-Costs for production
Theirs the initial cost of the development which includes a synopsis, possibly test footage. The biggest part of the beginning is writing. Requiring an introduction, character outlines, and what filmmaking elements will be utilized. All within the initial pitch in order to get a production company on board to help fund your film. The production company will already own filming rigs, experienced crew and some area agreements etc. Meaning they’re a vital aspect of filming a production. Then there's the rest of the expenses. Bringing in talent to perform, specialized equipment like alternate lenses you wish to use. Location scouting, then location releases. Then after all the production and post production costs if you want to have a profit from your production you're going to need to focus on advertising and the many different areas that covers.
-What we spent
Thanks to the college’s supplies we didn’t have to pay for audio and visual equipment. And as it was a college production our talent did everything for free. However, we did buy the fruit used as props in the shots. Alongside food to feed our talent.

-Our roles
For our short we had more crossover for the roles allowing us to mix our skills and avoiding having a director for the whole short. However we did have a director for set design and photography. Aspects of the short that needed to align where done by a single person so it was smoother.

Locations:
-Our Locations and how we obtained them
We utilized a combination of virtual and real locations. Meaning the utility of green screen or even just set design within our classroom. However, we also scouted a park for our outside filming, sending an email to the police weeks in advance and being cautious not to include the public in the background of our shots. We also used the house of one of the production crew to get the owners permission to film.
